  • how to choose the right Opportunity Spaces
  • how to use Technology Waves
  • the Koi model for commercialising new technologies
  • how to monetise new technologies using Value Chains and Constellations
  • how to ward off Sharks - and ally with Whales
  • how to foster Ecosystems around new technologies

The PIPELINE Workshop has been run inhouse by MSM and DPSS and is being run for all units on both the Pretoria and Stellenbosch campuses.

You will be learning from Neil Hinrichsen, a CSIR Entrepreneur-in-Residence with decades of experience in taking new technologies to market.  Neil cofounded two high tech startups, both of which were acquired, one for $110m.  Neil is also an accredited specialist with the University of Pretoria and serves on the advisory board for Stellenbosch University's LaunchLab incubator.

He is now working to develop the next generation of entrepreneurs in Africa through the Koi platform.  Koi provides workshops and masterclasses across South Africa in the Koi  methodology as well as providing a wide range of resources for entrepreneurs.  The online Koi community has over 1,500 members who share resources, opportunities and ideas.  More about Koi here.

Microsoft, Stellenbosch University, the Innovation Hub, the Bandwidth Barn, R Labs, UWC, the CSIR, mLab and False Bay college have trained hundreds of their entrepreneurs in Koi over the past six years, and Koi provides the Entrepreneurship Programme for the CSIR (more here).

Neil is also contracted by Licensing & Ventures to work directly with CSIR units to help them commercialise technologies - so he is available after the workshop to work personally with your unit.
